finishing, restarting, ripping
The body of my Versio sweater is done, and I’m hoping to pick up for the sleeves tonight. My plan is to work them simultaneously, working stripe A on the right sleeve then stripe A on the left sleeve. I’m cutting it close on yardage, and will probably need to pick up a second skein of the black “Forest Hills,” but hopefully I’ll make it.
Remember this shawl? From weeks and weeks and weeks ago?
It was my main knitting project through the stomach problems, and the bedbug situation. Simple, straight forward, stockinette, half circle. I finally got it back on the needles, and have figured out what I want to do for the bottom edging. yay.
And Julie Asselin posted her fall colorways on instagram & in her Ravelry group, so I can show off the beautifulness that is the colorway “Anemone.” I’m working away on this new design and loving it – though I did need to rip a couple rows last night, which is why the stitches aren’t all sitting on the needle correctly…
a sweater, a shawl, and a tangle of jewelry
The sweater I was swatching for last week is flying along. I’m a little worried about running out of yarn, which always makes me knit faster, like if I knit fast enough I’ll be able to out knit my yardage (as silly as that sounds). More pictures and information on the pattern, yarn, etc. in this post.
I started a new shawl in a skein of Julie Asselin’s “Merletto” it’s in one of her new fall colorways. I don’t want to spill the beans too early (hence the black & white photo), but it’s absolutely beautiful! I love collaborating with yarnies and I’m so glad Julie provided yarn support for this shawl!
And I managed to untangled a pile of jewelry. The apartment is basically back together (after the painting and the bedbugs) but there are still little bags of things here and there, (like my jewelry.)
Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go back to pouring all my free time into my sweater.
I’m knitting again!
I’m knitting!!!
Sure, it’s not a lot of knitting, but it’s something. And after weeks of no knitting – it feels amazing! I’m swatching for a new sweater, Versio, by Ankestrick Designs, in three lace weight yarns, Fiber Space’s ‘Scrumptious,’ Sweet Georgia’s ‘Merino Lace,’ and Julie Aselin’s ‘Merletto.’
Getting gauge is proving challenging (mostly because I’m holding two strands together, instead of just one) and I’m very close to saying “fuck it” and reworking the pattern to make it work with my gauge, but I have one more swatch on the needles that may give me the correct gauge. Fingers crossed.
I’ve also done some spinning. I pulled out the 100% alpaca that I started spinning 3 (!) weeks ago. Spinning a little here, and a little there. Mostly when I haven’t felt like futzing with getting gauge on my sweater.
The apartment is sloooooooowly coming back together, I’m hoping to get the sewing machine set up soon, so I can start sewing again for The Self-Made Wardrobe project.
Speaking of which,
I “officially” restarted the self-made wardrobe project on Friday! Whee!!
I’m excited, but mostly I’m trying not to be too concerned that August isn’t that far away from fall, and the weather turning cold (hence the sweater.)
