I think my sweater is starting to feel a little neglected.
Each Wednesday, I take stock of the projects I’m working on.
My giant granny square is growing – ever so slowly – but still growing. Row by ever longer row. I might have said this before, but I’m at the point where every single round seems never ending.
That feeling of never ending rows, combined with very limited crafting time this week, means I managed to crochet 1.5 rounds…
This project mostly lives at my desk, and I’ve been squeezing in a few stitches here and there throughout the week. Up until this point, that method has made for slow, consistent, and visible progress.
But I think that this shawl/sweater has officially reached the point of needing focused attention, to really grow. Otherwise, I really will be working on this project forever.
Anyway! There’s always this coming week, and cooler weather on the horizon (fingers crossed).
And one more thing!
Penny over at Little Acorn Creations interviewed me about the self-made wardrobe project, my shawl geometry series, and generally creativity & craft. You can read the interview here – it was an absolute delight answering Penny’s questions.
switching up the color balance
Each Wednesday, I take stock of the projects I’m working on.
I started this granny square, origami, crocheted cardigan about 7 weeks ago, and I’m just about halfway though.
Well… I’m halfway through the total number of rounds.
Which means I’m very much not halfway through the crocheting.
But it does mean that I’m switching up the color balance.
The first half of the square (the inner rounds) was very heavy on the white, there are 18 rounds of white, to 5 rounds of grey. So for the second half my plan is to switch that up so there is significantly more grey to white.
I’m not sure what the exact ratio is going to be, but my goal at least is to achieve some sort of visual balance between the inner and outer parts of the square – while not ending up with a stark white cardigan.
photographing a black and white blob
Each Wednesday, I take stock of the projects I’m working on.
I’m working away on my crochet cardigan, and I’m loving how simple it is.
The stitch is brainless (a giant granny square). The shaping is ingrained in my brain (a basic center out square shawl). The yarn is absolutely lovely (Karabella “Max”). And there’s absolutely no deadline.
For me, right now, it’s the perfect project.
But now the question has arisen… how many ways can you photograph a black and white blob?
