shawl shape swatches and a messy desk
Each Wednesday, I post a snapshot of the projects I’m working on, and where my brain is at.

Swatches and flowers and glasses oh my!
When I was taking this photo of my desk in it’s currently full state, I completely missed the fact that there’s actually two piles of swatches. The first being the knit shawl shape swatches, for the update of the third book in the Shawl Geometry Series. And the second being the pile of fabric swatches over on the right hand side, which are actually for a dance piece that I’m building things for.
But this has been the state of my desk for awhile now – piles of project pieces accumulating all over the place.
Maybe in between blocking Shawl Geometry swatches, I’ll clean off my desk this week.
Waiting for swatches to dry. It’s sort of like waiting for paint to dry.

checking off steps and meditative stitching

Focused on making steady progress on two giant projects this week.
One being a huge embroidery project that I started years ago. And the other being the Shawl Geometry Books Update.
Working on the embroidery project is rhythmic and meditative. There was a beginning, now is a looooooong middle, and at some point there will be an end. But there are never steps to check off (though I could make some if I wanted to) – there is merely one stitch at a time.
On the other hand, the updating Shawl Geometry Books has been a project full of steps and mini projects. This week: finish knitting the final swatches for the third book – done! And then weave in all the ends – done!
Next? Blocking. And editing graphics.
