Wrapping up 2014 & Starting 2015 – The Self-Made Wardrobe Week 22

The Self-Made Wardrobe is a project where I only wear garments I’ve made.
It’s sort of a year long experiment in getting dressed without clothing labels.

Day-148

DAY 148 – DECEMBER 26th

Blue & Green Archer Button Up Shirt
Black Scarf
Basic Black Tank Top
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Tights
Black Heels
Various Rings

The trip back from the parent’s house after Christmas, called for a comfy, cozy, put-together outfit, plus heels.

Day-149

DAY 149 – DECEMBER 27th

Hand-Knit Sweater Dress
Basic Black Tank Top
Black Leggings
Various Rings

I really hope no one minds if I basically live in this dress + leggings for the rest of the winter, because they’re the perfect combination for cold days in front of the computer.

Day-150

DAY 150 – DECEMBER 28th

Boring Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Birds & Wheels Flare Skirt
Black Leggings
Long Necklace
Various Rings

I haven’t worn this skirt much this year, it’s one of the few handmade pieces I had before I started this self-made wardrobe project, and usually it never sees the light of day once the temperature drops into tights wearing territory. But it’s a really cute skirt, and I’m glad I pulled it out the other day. (You can see better photos from the first attempt at this project, here.)

Day-151

DAY 151 – DECEMBER 29th

Versio Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Tights
Brown Boots
Bicycle Clock Necklace
Various Rings

I think I need to finish some more clothes if only for the fact that it’ll give me something new to talk about. It turns out I get tired of talking about outfits, before I get tired of wearing them, and I’m sure you’re more than tired of looking at the same things over and over by now. 🙂

Day-152

DAY 152 – DECEMBER 30th

Blue & Green Archer Button Up Shirt
Basic Black Tank Top
Black Scarf
Cascading Flowers Skirt
Bead Crochet Bracelet
Various Rings

I spent the last couple days of 2014 ensconced at home finishing projects, meeting deadlines, and generally wrapping up 2014.

Day-153

DAY 153 – DECEMBER 31st

Blue & Green Archer Button Up Shirt
Basic Black Tank Top
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Leggings
Various Rings

This is a little embarrassing to admit, but I still haven’t put buttons on my Archer button up shirt, even though I’ve worn it many times. I have the buttons, I have my sewing machine, I have my button hole foot, but the buttons have still not made their way onto the shirt yet. Buttons & button holes is the final step on this shirt, and at this point it’s just sheer laziness that this shirt isn’t completely done.

Day-154

DAY 154 – JANUARY 1st

Hand-Knit Sweater Dress
Basic Black Tank Top
Black Leggings

And here’s that dress again.

Also..

Happy New Year!!!
Welcome to 2015!

I hope you’re New Year is off to a fantastic start.

Sweater Weather, Non Sweater Weather & Christmas Traveling – The Self-Made Wardrobe Week 21

The Self-Made Wardrobe is a project where I only wear garments I’ve made.
It’s sort of a year long experiment in getting dressed without clothing labels.

Day-141

DAY 141 – DECEMBER 19th

Versio Sweater
Black Scarf
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Tights
Brown Boots
Various Rings

I’ve said this before, but I’ve never really been a sweater knitter. Prior to this self-made wardrobe project, I mostly knit super complex lace shawls that I almost never wear. And one of the best parts of this project has been knitting sweaters, learning tons about knitting sweaters, and figuring out how to knit sweaters out of yarn I already have in my yarn stash (none of which was bought with knitting sweaters in mind.)

Day-142

DAY 142 – DECEMBER 20th

Moonstruck Cardigan
Grey Cowl
Black Maxi Skirt with a Slit
Black Tights
Brown Boots
Various Rings

One of the downsides to wearing mostly black is that it kind of all blends together in photographs. One piece just sort of melds into the next.

Day-143

DAY 143 – DECEMBER 21st

Colorful Knit Sweater Dress
Basic Black Tank Top
Black Leggings
Various Rings

I finally got around to getting black leggings to wear under this dress – something I’ve been meaning to do since I finished knitting this dress way back in May.

Day-144

DAY 144 – DECEMBER 22nd

Deconstructed Black Sweater
Boring Black Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Tights
Brown Boots
Various Rings

I didn’t plan it this way, but I love that when I wear my boring black sweater & my deconstructed sweater they visually blend together and look like a different sweater entirely. I guess that’s one of the benefits of solid black clothing.

Day-145

DAY 145 – DECEMBER 23rd

Versio Sweater
Basic Black Tank Top
Black Circle Skirt with a Slit
Various Rings

A strangely warms spell means a) no snow for Christmas, and b) many fewer layers that can normally be expected for the end of December…

Day-146

DAY 146 – DECEMBER 24th

Green & Blue Archer Button Up Shirt (still without buttons…)
Basic Black Tank Top
Black Scarf
Graphic Silk Circle Skirt
Black Tights
Black Heels
Pocket Watch Necklace
Various Rings

Visiting the parents for Christmas means there are trees outside the windows and fireplaces inside the living room.

Day-147

DAY 147 – DECEMBER 25th

Colorful Knit Sweater Dress
Black Scarf
Black Leggings
Various Rings

Getting dressed without actually getting dressed… what else would you wear on Christmas Day?

just a super quick note to say…

Each Wednesday, I post little snippets about what’s happening, and what I’m working on.

embroidered christmas tree ornament

Just a super super quick note to say:

“Merry Merry Christmas & Happy Happy Hanukkah”

I’ve spent the past week madly embroidering Christmas gifts. Even though I know I said I wouldn’t. This ornament has already been gifted – and all show you the other pieces once they’ve made it into the hands of their recipients.

Now that Christmas gifts are (more or less) taken care of, I’m excited to get back to self-made wardrobe knitting.

striped knitting

My Christmas knitting is a striped top-down raglan sweater knit entirely out of handspun yarn – I can’t wait to dive back in.
