The Self-Made Wardrobe Week 3

The Self-Made Wardrobe is a project where I only wear garments I’ve made, for one year.
You can read more about the project here.

The Self Made Wardrobe Week 3

It’s the end of Week 3 of the Self-Made Wardrobe Project, and almost the end of August (which means it’s almost fall – eep!)

Luckily the weather is still warm, but a couple chilly mornings have definitely turbo fueled my sweater knitting. (The body of my sweater is done – yay!)

And I’m starting to think ahead towards cushy cozy sweaters, skirts with tights, and my fall through winter staple – jeans…

My current plan is to finish the sweater I’m working on, whip out some more tank tops, maybe make another skirt or two, and then turn my attention to making some jeans. That way I can focus on making jeans, without worrying about having nothing to wear.

Yesterday, I whipped up the world’s simplest cardigan, and a no sew jersey dress, that I can’t wait to wear and show off.

Unfortunately I’m still trying to work out how to get good, clear, interesting, photos of the garments themselves. I have worked out how to take some horrendous photos, but good ones are proving trickier.

Since a pile of books will only take you so far, and taking photos of yourself isn’t the easiest thing, I suspect I’m going to need a proper tripod for this. I am working on it…

And if you want to know when I figure out this little conundrum, sign up to follow the blog.

finishing, restarting, ripping

half finished sweater

The body of my Versio sweater is done, and I’m hoping to pick up for the sleeves tonight. My plan is to work them simultaneously, working stripe A on the right sleeve then stripe A on the left sleeve. I’m cutting it close on yardage, and will probably need to pick up a second skein of the black “Forest Hills,” but hopefully I’ll make it.

knitting

Remember this shawl? From weeks and weeks and weeks ago?
It was my main knitting project through the stomach problems, and the bedbug situation. Simple, straight forward, stockinette, half circle. I finally got it back on the needles, and have figured out what I want to do for the bottom edging. yay.

And Julie Asselin posted her fall colorways on instagram & in her Ravelry group, so I can show off the beautifulness that is the colorway “Anemone.” I’m working away on this new design and loving it – though I did need to rip a couple rows last night, which is why the stitches aren’t all sitting on the needle correctly…
